The Road that Leads to Light

On the 25th of February, Armando and his wife Nina, received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Read that again, if it didn't strike you the first time, "Armando and his wife Nina received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior!"   That's great news!  The angels in heaven are rejoicing and so should we, especially when we know the whole story.

This couple from East Timor had come from an animistic background. They had been bound by superstition. They knew nothing about Christ, until the Holy Spirit intervened in the midst of their tragedy.  

One of their two children had a severe case of malaria and also could not open his mouth. Armando and Nina took their child to the nearby hospital. The medical staff tried to force the child's mouth open. All of them were very frightened. 

Seeing that the hospital could not help, a family member suggested that they should visit the home of their neighbor, a Nazarene couple: Pastor Samuel and Ully.  So, the family left the hospital and walked to the pastor's house that very afternoon. When they arrived at the house Armando said, "We have come looking for the road that leads to the Light."

Pastor Samuel used the EvangeCube to explain the Gospel to them. When he asked Nina if she knew who Jesus was, she said, "I have never heard of Jesus. Who is He?"  Samuel introduced them to Jesus and they both asked forgiveness for their sins and accepted Christ as their Saviour. Then Pastor Samuel and Ully prayed for their child, and he was cured immediately!  Amazed at the goodness of God, Armando asked if the pastors could also come to his house and pray.

On Saturday Pastor Samuel and Ully went to Armando's house. Armando and his wife brought out all of their amulets and other artifacts that they had been using to call on their ancestors and the powers of darkness. After praying Pastor Samuel burned these instruments. Then Armando ask that they go through the house and pray in each room. He said, "We have been living in darkness and sometimes we have wanted to kill ourselves. Please cast out all of the darkness from our house." While they were there, Armando's mother also wanted to pray and receive Christ as her Saviour.

This past Sunday Armando's whole family went to morning fellowship at the Lospolos Church of the Nazarene. This was the first weekend of their new lives on the road that leads to light!!!
