Mayor Bayacsan walking the town
Felisio Bayacsan was about twenty-five years old when the missionaries started a Bible Study in his home.  Felisio was a hard drinking, pagan.  His wife was one of the first belivers in the area won to the Lord many years earlier by Bob McCroskey, Sr. But Felisio avoided the church and missionaries for a long time until they finally decided to hold the Bible study in his home. Over the next six months he heard the Good News and finally this "trouble-maker in the community" as he called himself, gave his live to Jesus Christ.

What a change!  Felisio had been a notorious political rebel and a drunkard. Now he became an active witness for Christ.  Felisio began to walk all over Loo Valley to start preaching points and testify to villages hours away.  On a Sunday he would walk a total of 21 kilometers (13 miles) up and down mountains, hiking to the churches and then visiting people in the area before making the long trek back home.

Felisio's local pastor encouraged him to continue serving as a lay pastor in the Loo Valley area. In time, Pastor Bayacsan helped to finance the starting of several other churches as well.   A few years ago he served on a school board for the local school and performed so well that people asked him to run for mayor of the town of Buguias. Felisio Bayacsan, former town drunk and troublemaker, was recently elected as Mayor of Buguias and has been working to help improve the community.  Several new roads have already been constructed and some others have been cemented. He has been very supportive of the churches in the community.  Mayor (Pastor) Bayacsan has a great heart for his people. He continues to preach and walk and live the Good News.
